Yesterday, Senate Democrats, led by Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Tom Carper (D-Del), and Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) introduced the International Climate Accountability Act, which would ensure the United States remains a party to the Paris Agreement and works to meet its commitments under the agreement. The bill is a companion to H.R. 9, which passed the House of Representative in early May.

Yesterday, Reps. Bill Keating (D-Md.), Joseph Kennedy III (D-Mass.), Alan Lowenthal (D-Cali.), Donald McEachin (D-Va.), and Donald Norcross (D-N.J.) reintroduced the Offshore Wind Jobs and Opportunity Act. The bill creates a federal grant program to assist colleges, universities, state and local governments, unions, and nonprofits in the development of programs to prepare workers for jobs in the nation’s offshore wind industry.

The Clean Energy Jobs Act of 2019 is set to become law in Maryland on Friday after passing the General Assembly in April. The law sets a renewable energy target of 50 percent by 2030 and is expected to grow the state’s offshore wind capacity to over 1,500 megawatts by 2030.
