US DOL Good Jobs Initiative Takes Important Steps in Creating, Supporting Good Union Jobs Across the Nation
U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh today unveiled a new three part “Good Jobs” initiative. Under the new initiative, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will: increase information sharing for workers about issues like workers’ rights; engage employers on job quality and workforce development; and provide technical assistance and support to other federal agencies working to develop and attach job quality standards to their policies and programs—particularly as applies to the implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
In response to the new initiative, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“It is critical that as the Biden administration makes investments in rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure and growing the clean economy we ensure the jobs created are good, union jobs. The initiative announced today takes important steps toward improving job quality across the country by empowering workers, providing pathways into successful careers, and facilitating agencies working together to maximize the benefits to working people and communities.”
