U.S. House Provides Critical Funding to Protecting Workers and Communities
The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the first “minibus” spending bill for fiscal year 2021. The package includes funding for a number of departments and programs including the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency.
In response to the passage of the bill in the House, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“We applaud House leadership for crafting a spending package that provides critical funding to the programs we rely on to keep our air and water clean, to protect workers and communities, and to fight the climate crisis. Funding for programs like the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds and emergency funding to address vital water infrastructure needs is more important now than ever as we face a public health crisis of an immense scale.
“This bill once again rejects the ridiculous spending and program cuts requested by the president, which would only further endanger American communities and workers at the worst possible time. We urge the Senate to do the same.”
