Senate Democrats Do the Right Thing on Fast Track
BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Kim Glas responds to the Senate's failure to pass a procedural vote in order to move forward with consideration of the bill on fast-track trade authority.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 12, 2015) – Today the Senate failed to pass a procedural vote in order to move forward with consideration of the bill on fast-track trade authority. The following is a statement from BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Kim Glas.
“Today, Senate Democrats did the right thing. They called for accountability as part of a fast track agreement and put House and Senate leaders on notice that fast track—as it is construed—is bad for our economy and environment.
“With the continued work of a broad coalition of unions, environmental organizations, civic, and economic and environmental leaders, and many others, we will call for transparency in trade agreements and that these agreements must provide opportunities for workers and our environment.”
