Oregon Commits to the Country’s Most Ambitious Timeline for Achieving a Clean Energy Power Grid
At an event today, Oregon State Governor Kate Brown signed into law House Bill 2021, which will grow clean energy and good jobs in Oregon by committing the state to the country’s most ambitious climate timeline for a 100 percent clean energy power grid. Prior to the signing, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Oregon state Policy Coordinator Ranfis Villatoro:
“Today’s groundbreaking victory not only moves the state forward on its bold climate goals but it reaffirms the state’s commitment to workers across Oregon with high workforce standards that will benefit rural, coastal, low-income, and BIPOC Communities. We’re proud to stand with our coalition partners who helped secure today’s historic win.
“This is a win for all of Oregon. With this bill signing, Oregon is signaling that we are not just a part of the national climate conversation but that we are leaders on climate. House Bill 2021 demonstrates that we can set and achieve bold climate goals, all while ensuring that workers and those most impacted by climate change are front and center in the fight for a better future for us all.
“Oregon is making the choice to invest in workers and the community every step along the way and affirm a bold new path for our state. We look forward to Governor Brown’s signature making this bill the law of our state.”
