BlueGreen Alliance Welcomes DOE’s U.S. Energy Employment Report
The BlueGreen Alliance’s Executive Director Kim Glas reacts to the DOE's second annual U.S. Energy Employment Report.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 13, 2017) – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today released its second annual U.S. Energy Employment Report (USEER). This report provides an analysis of how changes in America’s energy landscape affect employment in the energy sector. Following release of the report, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Kim Glas:
“The DOE’s second annual report shows American companies and workers are rising to the challenge of building an innovative, strong, secure, and increasingly clean energy economy.
“This report shows that nearly 9 million Americans work in the energy, efficiency, and motor vehicle sectors explored and shows that not only has employment grown in these sectors since 2015, but energy job growth is playing an outsized role in job creation across the economy.
“The report also shows areas where the nation needs to do more to secure or replace jobs lost, double down on training the next generation of energy workers, and ensure growth in emerging energy jobs reaches into every state.
“This report highlights a critical opportunity to capture jobs in the energy industries of today and tomorrow and helps provide a roadmap to do so. We thank the DOE for this valuable analysis.”
