Congress Moves Forward to Help Workers, but More Action Needed to Ensure Recovery
The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the latest step forward to aid workers and families. Following the vote, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“We are grateful that Congress took strong action to help workers. However, over 3 million Americans filed for unemployment just this week. This can’t be the end of the discussion about economic recovery and how we can help American workers during this time of crisis.
“Congress must continue to act to protect front-line workers and working people across the country impacted by this crisis. They can do that by investing in our basic systems—clean water, schools, broadband for all, and transit—and rebuilding and retooling America’s manufacturing sector to be ready for the challenges we face, whether a pandemic or the climate crisis.”
