The Biden administration today released a whole-of-government strategy to cut methane emissions. The strategy acknowledges the impact of methane emissions on climate change and on the health and safety of local communities and lays out a sector-by-sector roadmap to address these impacts while reducing emissions. Additionally, the document reviews current technology available to reduce methane emissions and notes the potential for the creation of good, union jobs in applying that technology. In response to the release of the framework, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“There is no reason that the U.S. can’t cut our methane emissions. Methane is one of the major contributors to climate change and leaks of methane endanger the health and safety of workers and communities. We have the technology we need and a skilled workforce ready and willing to do the work to plug methane leaks. We welcome the release of this comprehensive strategy and look forward to working with the administration to see it implemented.”
