WASHINGTON, DC (April 29, 2013) – Reacting to President Obama’s decision to nominate Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx to replace Ray LaHood as the next Secretary of Transportation, BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster released the following statement:
“As mayor of Charlotte, Anthony Foxx has a strong track record of investing in 21st century infrastructure. We’re hopeful that as Transportation Secretary, he’ll lead with that same vision of a balanced, multi-modal transport system that’s affordable and accessible to all Americans. Just as important as expanding access to transportation, strong Buy America policies must be part of a comprehensive plan to rebuild and reinforce our transportation infrastructure, while creating good jobs.
“Strategic, long-term investments in America’s transportation systems will create jobs, reduce pollution and better prepare for the effects of climate change. We urge swift confirmation of our next Transportation Secretary.”
