BlueGreen Alliance Statement on Andrew Puzder
A labor secretary needs to value the work of working people, strive to support the creation of quality, family-sustaining jobs, and advance and defend strong workplace healthy and safety protections.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 15, 2017) Following news that Andrew Puzder has withdrawn his nomination for Labor Secretary, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Kim Glas:
“Andrew Puzder was the wrong person to lead the Labor Department. Mr. Puzder was a critic of key policies to build the middle class, including raising the minimum wage, and advocated for weakening health and safety standards. His company, meanwhile, was a chronic violator of the very laws the Labor Department is charged with enforcing.
“A labor secretary needs to value the work of working people, strive to support the creation of quality, family-sustaining jobs, and advance and defend strong workplace healthy and safety protections.”
