The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, today announced the organization has endorsed Rep. Sean Casten for the Sixth Congressional District in Illinois.

“It’s possible to solve today’s environmental challenges while also creating good-paying jobs,” said Rep. Sean Casten. “That’s what I did before coming to Congress, and that is what I’m still fighting for today. I’m honored to be endorsed by the BlueGreen Alliance and their partnering unions to build a sustainable and equitable economy.”

The endorsement is a recognition of the leadership of Rep. Casten to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce the emissions driving climate change. Rep. Casten voted for several key priorities, including the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Casten for Congress,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “Our organization is founded on the belief that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment—we can and must have both. Rep. Casten is a champion for building a clean, prosperous, and equitable future and is the best choice for Congress in the Sixth District in Illinois.”

This is the first year that the BlueGreen Alliance is endorsing candidates for Congress. Previously, the organization endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States in 2020—the first such endorsement in the organization’s history.
