BlueGreen Alliance Condemns Janus Decision
After the Supreme Court announced its decision on the Janus v. AFSCME case earlier today, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Kim Glas:
“The decision in the Janus case today—a case backed by powerful billionaires and motivated by corporate greed—seeks only to limit the voice of working people on the job and in the public debate.
“But we know that nothing can stop working men and women all over this country from coming together to raise wages and secure basic needs like healthcare coverage. Teachers are hitting the streets to fight for better classroom environments, wages, and benefits and people around the country are coming to realize the power of joining their voice with others to bargain for a more prosperous future for us all in the face of increasing corporate greed. Nothing can stop workers from standing up for rights on the job—like environmental and health and safety protections. And nothing can stop them from building a better life and stronger communities for their families.
“Today, we stand with our union brothers and sisters because no court case will stop us from building a movement to create good jobs, to protect our air and water, and to build a stronger, fairer, and more equitable economy.”
