WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 24, 2017) Today, Senate Democrats unveiled a $1 trillion blueprint to strengthen our nation’s infrastructure. The BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Kim Glas:

“We applaud the Senate Democrats for proposing bold investments in our nation’s infrastructure that will create 15 million jobs while also building more efficient and resilient systems for generations to come.

“This infrastructure package also ensures the creation of quality, American jobs with the inclusion of Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions and Buy American policies, and is aimed at accelerating projects while adhering to environmental protections, all of which will help to create good jobs in local communities across the country.

“The American Society of Engineers estimated that an additional $1.6 trillion is needed to bring our nation’s infrastructure to a good state of repair, and we know that these investments in our water, energy, transportation, natural gas distribution infrastructure, and schools will create millions of good jobs.

“We applaud Senate Democrats for putting forth this concrete blueprint and urge Congress to move swiftly on this bipartisan priority.”
