WASHINGTON, DC (June 27, 2013) – Today, the Senate voted 100-0 to approve Anthony Foxx’s nomination to lead the U.S. Department of Transportation. The following is a statement from BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster:
“Our next Transportation Secretary, Anthony Foxx, will be integral in implementing a strategic vision that fixes America’s infrastructure, one that better prepares communities for the effects of climate change, and repairing and upgrading our roads, bridges and transit systems.
“As mayor, Anthony Foxx showed tremendous support for transit and his advocacy of these kinds of investments should continue. As we heard this week from the president, we have to do more to prevent the effects of climate change and protect communities. Reinforcing and replacing our transportation infrastructure will help to drive that effort. We look forward to working with Foxx as we move to repair America and to expand and improve the transportation systems that will strengthen the economy and move America forward.”
