BlueGreen Alliance Appeals to EPA to Develop a Clean Power Plan that Supports Workers & Communities
The BlueGreen Alliance today released comments in support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) authority to set carbon emission standards for existing power sources.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 1, 2014) – The BlueGreen Alliance today released comments in support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) authority to set carbon emission standards for existing power sources. The following is a statement from BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Kim Glas:
“The EPA’s proposed rule sends a message that we’re ready to lead by example on climate action.
“This proposed rule permits each state the flexibility needed to craft a compliance plan that is tailored to the specifics of its local and regional economy, which in turn can create opportunities to sustain and grow jobs, encourage investment and jumpstart new technologies.
“This rule has the potential to create and maintain quality, family-sustaining jobs if it is done right. For that to happen, the private sector, including utilities, and all levels of government must work in tandem with communities—and the workers within them—to make the rule a success. There is still further opportunity for EPA to get the details of the final rule correct. We applaud the EPA for moving forward on addressing the threat of climate change.”
