Biden Visits Pennsylvania Mack Truck Facility to Tout Need for Manufacturing Investments
President Biden will visit Lower Macungie Township-based Mack Trucks Lehigh Valley Operations today to promote the need for investments that will rebuild and revitalize American manufacturing, while also creating and providing good-paying, unionized jobs for American workers. Among the products made there, the Mack Trucks facility is building the first fully electric garbage truck in the country.
In response, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“The president’s visit to the Mack facility today is a great reminder of where much of America’s economic power originated from: the hardworking men and women in manufacturing jobs. These workers—building globally iconic products—provided the foundation upon which the United States grew the strongest and most innovative economy in history. In the decades that followed, offshoring, outsourcing, and a focus on corporate profits over workers have left too many workers and communities behind. With the right investments and resolve, we can build America’s future in America.
“It’s time to reverse those trends and invest in our factories and workers in order to lift millions of Americans to a standard of living they deserve. Making these investments at the scale we need to build back better will be essential to addressing the climate crisis and ensuring a real and equitable recovery.
“We look forward to the president’s remarks later today and support his vision for the clean, thriving, and equitable future where American manufacturing thrives and is an engine for opportunity for all.”
