On his first day in office, President Joe Biden has taken executive actions to rejoin the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, reverse the Trump administration’s deregulatory environmental actions, and advance racial justice. In response, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

“Today we return to American climate leadership. President Biden’s actions to rejoin the Paris Agreement and roll back damaging efforts to weaken our nation’s fuel economy and methane standards will fight the climate crisis and grow good-paying, union jobs at a time when working families desperately need them.

“Additionally, the executive actions taken today to advance racial justice are a welcome step toward addressing the pervasive and persistent inequality that plagues our nation.”
