Biden Administration Agency Climate Plans Leave Nation Better Prepared
The White House today released climate adaptation and resilience plans for 23 federal agencies. The plans includes efforts to develop a more resilient supply chain; enhance protections for workers and communities; build a more equitable future; safeguard federal investments; and create leadership and accountability structures to ensure that these actions are led from the top. The BlueGreen Alliance has previously called for a whole-of-government plan like this, mostly recently in our Social Infrastructure Platform. In response to the release of the plans, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“As we work to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, it is vital that we prepare for those impacts we can no longer mitigate. These plans are just the kind of proactive measures our nation needs in place to ensure that our supply chains don’t crumble in the face of climate change, our workers and communities have the resources and tools they need to prepare and build back after extreme weather events, and that equity is baked in to all of these efforts.”
