The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) announced the final sale notice for the Central Atlantic Wind Energy Areas off the coasts of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Additionally, DOI set an official auction date of August 14. The wind energy areas have the potential to power up to 2.2 million homes.

In response to the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Director of Offshore Wind Sarah Giltz:

“This announcement further showcases the Biden administration’s clear support to seize the potential of offshore wind to create good jobs, revitalize local communities, and provide a new source of energy along our coasts.

“As momentum continues to grow in the offshore wind industry so will demand for the parts and materials needed to meet this moment. We support a build out of a national supply chain to meet that demand and maximize the benefits of offshore wind for workers and communities across the country.”
