Building Clean: Improving Efficiency, Health, and Equity in Housing and Creating Good Jobs

When buildings are designed, built, and maintained to protect the health of people and the environment—and if the manufacturing of building products and materials create good-paying union jobs in the U.S.—then the wellbeing of people and communities will improve, especially for people of color. Building Clean works to increase the use of building products that are more efficient, less toxic, and manufactured in the U.S. We aim to improve the physical, environmental, and economic health of communities and promote a more equitable future for all.

Solidarity for Climate Action: The Plan We Need to Get American Manufacturing Back on Track

Manufacturing towns dot the nation, and advanced manufacturing helps provide the foundation for the economy in major regions of the United States. Industries like the steel and automotive industries supported good-paying jobs, middle-class families, and prosperous communities for decades, while also spurring American leadership in innovation and technology. That’s still true in some areas. But in many others, factories have closed or new industries offer jobs that all too often are poorly paid, insecure, or unsafe.

The BlueGreen Alliance Responds to U.S. Department of Energy RFI: Designing Equitable, Sustainable, Sustainable, and Effective Revolving Loan Fund Programs

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the buildings sector accounts for 31% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Public buildings, in particular, have the potential to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These types of buildings, also known as Municipal, University, Schools, Hospitals (MUSH) tend to be the most energy intensive because they are typically large, old and have high electricity demand.

House Education & Labor Funding Bill Hit and Miss on Important Issues of School Infrastructure, Dislocated Workers

The House Committee on Education and Labor today marked up a $779.5 billion budget reconciliation bill funding the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor and other programs essential to supporting the nation’s students and workforce. Flagstaff Mayor, Community Leaders Call for Bold Investments in Arizona’s Clean Energy and Climate Infrastructure

Today, the BlueGreen Alliance and the League of Conservation Voters held a press conference at Flagstaff High School featuring Flagstaff City Mayor Paul Deasy, a representative from the Office of Congressmember Tom O’Halleran, a school district facilities professional, community leaders, and advocates to call on Congress to act now to support a reconciliation budget bill that will fund the bold climate investments to help states, cities, and school districts expand clean energy to address the climate crisis.
