Offshore Wind Continues to Advance with Approval of New England Wind Offshore WindProject
The Biden-Harris administration today announced the approval of the New England Wind offshore wind project. The project will be the nation’s eighth commercial scale offshore wind project. With this announcement the U.S. Department of the Interior has approved more than 10 gigawatts of clean energy from offshore wind projects, moving the nation toward the administration’s goal of 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030.
In response to the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance release the following statement from Director of Offshore Wind Sarah Giltz:
“This morning’s announcement highlights the current momentum of the U.S. offshore wind industry. The growth in offshore wind presents us with the unique opportunity to build a crucial industry in a way that will create good, union jobs and protect the environment. We look forward to continuing to work with the administration as we move closer to meeting our national offshore wind goals.”
