House Dems Walk the Walk in Vote to Give Staff Right to Form a Union
May 11, 2022
The U.S. House of Representatives last evening passed a resolution to grant congressional staff the right to organize and bargain collectively by a vote of 217-202, with 217 Democrats voting for and 202 Republicans against. The resolution was included in the rule for the Ukraine supplemental.
In response to the vote, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“Every worker from the House floor to the factory floor should have the right to join a union. House Democrats walked the walk and did the right thing. Meanwhile, House Republicans again showed their true colors by voting against the fundamental rights of working people.”
