BlueGreen Alliance Urges the California Workforce Development Board to Adopt Stronger State Standards for Federal Infrastructure and Manufacturing Funds
Today, the California Workforce Development Board held a hearing on the implementation of Senate Bill 150—current law. This legislation directs state agencies to develop workforce standards when public dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act are used for projects in the construction and manufacturing industry.
A coalition including BlueGreen Alliance California, the California Labor Federation, United Auto Workers, Environmental Voters, and Jobs to Move America attended the meeting to urge policymakers to adopt stronger standards on all publicly funded infrastructure and climate projects.
After the hearing, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from California State Policy Manager Tamina Chowdhury:
“SB150, if implemented to its full potential, represents a significant step forward in ensuring that our state’s infrastructure and manufacturing investments create good-paying jobs through the historic public investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act.”
“State agencies can utilize these resources to uplift workers and communities by implementing these laws the right way in California.”
