While we rarely weigh in on nominations, we oppose the nomination of Russell Vought to be Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and encourage you to vote “no” on his confirmation. Vought’s hostility toward career public servants and desire to consolidate executive power are incompatible with the principles of a fair and balanced government. His record serves as a clear warning sign that he will continue to try to upset the constitutional balance of powers by working to expand executive powers without accountability. Given Vought’s record and extreme views, he should not lead this vital agency.
