BlueGreen Alliance Endorses Steny Hoyer
The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, today announced the organization has endorsed House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer for the Fifth Congressional District in Maryland.
“I am humbled to receive the endorsement of the BlueGreen Alliance this year for my record of working to address the climate crisis while ensuring our hardworking families have the opportunities they need to succeed in a green economy,” said Congressman Hoyer. “In Congress, I’ve fought hard to create good-paying jobs for our workers under House Democrats’ Make It In America Agenda. With the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act that I brought to the House Floor, we can deliver on protecting our environment and growing our workforce so that none of our workers get left behind. I thank the BlueGreen Alliance for their endorsement and look forward to building on Democrats’ progress in the next Congress.”
The endorsement is a recognition of the leadership of Congressman Hoyer to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce the emissions driving climate change. He voted for several key priorities, including the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“The BlueGreen Alliance is proud to endorse Congressman Hoyer for Congress,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “Our organization is founded on the belief that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment—we can and must have both. Congressman Hoyer is a champion for building a clean, prosperous, and equitable future and is the best choice in the race for the Fifth Congressional District in Maryland.”
“We are excited to work alongside Steny Hoyer in this election and beyond,” said Walsh.
This is the first year that the BlueGreen Alliance is endorsing candidates for Congress. Previously, the organization endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States in 2020—the first such endorsement in the organization’s history.
