President Biden traveled to Westby, Wisconsin today to announce an award from the Empowering Rural America (New ERA) program. At the event, the president highlighted a New ERA investment funded by the Inflation Reduction Act that Dairyland Power Cooperative will use to grow solar and wind energy to supply power to utilities. New ERA is designed to help member-owned rural energy cooperatives transition to clean, affordable, and reliable energy—creating good jobs for local workers and ensuring workers and communities aren’t left behind in the transition to cleaner, cheaper energy.

Following the president’s speech, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from State Policy Manager for Wisconsin Carly Ebben Eaton: 

“The New ERA program is an exciting opportunity that will drive investment and jobs in rural Wisconsin. This award will help continue to grow clean energy and good union jobs for workers in our state and lower energy costs for consumers. We’re excited that President Biden chose to highlight Dairyland’s project in Westby as a good example of how we can build a clean energy future that creates middle-class jobs for workers.”
