Biden Administration Approves Nation’s Newest Offshore Wind Farm
The U.S. Department of the Interior today announced the approval of a new offshore wind project off the coast of New Jersey. The project—dubbed the Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind South project—is the ninth offshore wind project approved by the Biden administration and will generate up to 2.8 gigawatts of electricity, enough to power nearly 1 million homes.
In response to the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Director of Offshore Wind Sarah Giltz:
“We are thrilled to see this continued momentum in the nation’s offshore wind industry. On the tails of last week’s lease sale announcement, approval of the Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind South project is further proof that offshore wind can and will play a significant role in the nation’s energy mix and create good-paying jobs for workers.”
