A Global Agreement to Address Climate Change and Create Good Jobs
In advance of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference in Cancun, the BlueGreen Alliance outlined its priorities for an international agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Climate change and unsustainable energy dependence are the foremost environmental issues of our time and the signature economic issues of our day. These two challenges provide enormous risks to future economic development, but when confronted, offer unparalleled opportunities for creating millions of new jobs building the clean energy economy in the United States while launching a different model of global economic development.
The BlueGreen Alliance — along with its 13 labor and environmental partners uniting 13 million people in pursuit of good jobs, a clean environment and a green economy — released the following agenda for action on a climate agreement in Cancun with a focus on key issues, including Adaptation to Climate Change; Measuring, Reporting and Verification; REDD; International Technology Transfer; and Just Transition.
