Building Clean: Improving Efficiency, Health, and Equity in Housing and Creating Good Jobs

When buildings are designed, built, and maintained to protect the health of people and the environment—and if the manufacturing of building products and materials create good-paying union jobs in the U.S.—then the wellbeing of people and communities will improve, especially for people of color. Building Clean works to increase the use of building products that are more efficient, less toxic, and manufactured in the U.S. We aim to improve the physical, environmental, and economic health of communities and promote a more equitable future for all.

Manufacturing towns dot the nation, and advanced manufacturing helps provide the foundation for the economy in major regions of the United States. Industries like the steel and automotive industries supported good-paying jobs, middle-class families, and prosperous communities for decades, while also spurring American leadership in innovation and technology. That’s still true in some areas. But in many others, factories have closed or new industries offer jobs that all too often are poorly paid, insecure, or unsafe.

FACT SHEET: Clean Vehicle Provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act

We’re celebrating the clean vehicle policies and programs established and funded in the Inflation Reduction Act, which applies a whole-of-government approach to addressing this source of greenhouse gas and health-harming emissions, while also creating and preserving good union jobs, supporting and growing a domestic supply chain for vehicle components and technologies, and improving mobility and air quality in our neighborhoods.

BlueGreen Alliance Celebrates Passage of Transformative Reconciliation Bill

The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Inflation Reduction Act, a budget reconciliation bill that includes $369 billion in energy and climate investments and will create an estimated 9 million jobs over 10 years. Additionally, the bill will reduce emissions by 40% by 2030, support economic and racial justice programs, and create good-paying, union jobs across the nation. With today’s vote, the bill will be sent to the president’s desk to be signed into law.

BlueGreen Alliance Applauds Senate Passage of Inflation Reduction Act

The U.S. Senate today passed the Inflation Reduction Act, a budget reconciliation bill that includes $369 billion in energy, environment, and climate investments that will create an estimated 9 million jobs over 10 years. Senate Reconciliation Bill Holds Massive Job Creation, Emissions Reduction Potential 

The BlueGreen Alliance immediately got to work combing through the more than 100 investments included in the Inflation Reduction Act and has completed an initial analysis of the potential job creation and emissions reduction benefits of just a handful of those investments. What we found is that those investments alone will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
