Terin Mayer is the Deputy Research Director at the BlueGreen Alliance, where he helps bridge across the research and federal policy departments. He recently earned a PhD from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, where his research focused on the complex governance of freshwater resources.
He brings to his role seven years of research and project management experience: in GIS, climate data analysis, and public health impact assessment at the University of Minnesota; and several years as project manager for the Climate Impact Lab’s efforts to update the Social Cost of Carbon. Terin earned his Masters in Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy, UC Berkeley. Before graduate school, he worked for seven years with progressive community-based nonprofits and labor unions in Minnesota to build organizational strength and leverage grassroots engagement into winning issue and electoral campaigns. Terin received his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Carleton College.
He spent ten years of his childhood in Bolivia, Spain, and Chile with his sister and parents, an elementary school educator and a US Air Force officer. He now lives in Minneapolis with his wife and their daughter
