Honoring the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., BlueGreen Alliance Vows to Continue Fighting for a Clean Economy that Works for All
Today, the nation honors the legacy of civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was a fervent supporter of unions and working people throughout his life, noting during the 1961 AFL-CIO Convention that the civil rights movement’s “needs are identical with labor’s needs—decent wages, fair working conditions, livable housing, old age security, health and welfare measures, conditions in which families can grow, have education for their children and respect in the community.”
Today also marks the second inauguration of President Donald Trump.
The BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“The wisdom and leadership of Martin Luther King Jr. illustrate exactly the kind of foundation the future of our nation should be built upon. BGA will continue to work tirelessly to achieve a clean economy that would make Dr. King proud. The BlueGreen Alliance will never stop fighting for working people and a future that bends toward justice, no matter who is in the White House.”
