President Joe Biden will deliver a farewell address to the nation this evening as his term as president of the United States comes to a close. Over the course of the past four years, some of the Biden-Harris administration’s most significant achievements are: 

• The Inflation Reduction Act, the largest investment in climate action in U.S. history. The Inflation Reduction Act ties labor standards to several climate investments and tax credits to ensure that climate action creates good-paying, union jobs. 

• The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a $1.2 trillion investment to rebuild and modernize the nation’s infrastructure and create good-paying, union jobs while addressing and preparing for the impacts of climate change.   

• The CHIPS and Science Act, to support the domestic production of semiconductors. 

• Prioritizing underserved communities through the Justice40 Initiative, which targets 40% of the benefits of federal investment to these communities. 

• Consistently prioritizing job quality and supporting union workers while restoring and growing the economy, revitalizing the manufacturing sector, and cleaning up the nation’s air and water. 

Ahead of the president’s speech, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:

Because of his efforts we have seen the beginnings of a manufacturing renaissance after years of decline, our supply chains are once again growing, more than 360,000 lead pipes have been replaced, more and more workers are building careers in the clean energy sector—the list goes on.
