President Biden Announced Efforts to Ensure All Have Access to Safe, Clean Water at Milwaukee Event
President Biden traveled to Milwaukee today to announce the finalization of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s improvements to the nation’s Lead and Copper Rule. The new rule will build on the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to replace lead pipes around the country, including a $15 billion investment from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed in 2021.
The BlueGreen Alliance’s Regional Field Manager for Water Infrastructure Richard Diaz attended the event and offered the following statement after the event concluded:
“We thank President Biden and Vice President Harris for their leadership in removing these lead pipes poisoning our water. This issue hits close to home for families around Wisconsin—particularly for families of color. The administration has put the right policies and investments in place to help make sure that everyone in Wisconsin and across the country will have access to safe, clean water in their homes.”
