September 4, 2024

The BlueGreen Alliance, a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations, announced today that the organization has endorsed Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) for election to the U.S. Senate from the State of Michigan.

“The BlueGreen Alliance is proud to endorse Elissa Slotkin for Senate,” said BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director Jason Walsh. “Our organization is founded on the belief that we don’t have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment; we can and must have both. Rep. Slotkin is currently a champion for fighting climate change, protecting the health of people and the environment, and creating good-paying union jobs and she is the best choice in the race for U.S. Senate from Michigan.”

“Unions play a critical role in ensuring that people get in and stay in the Middle Class and preserving our environment is about the safety of our kids and the preservation of our way of life in Michigan – that’s why I am so grateful to have the support of The BlueGreen Alliance in my campaign,” said Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Elissa Slotkin.

The endorsement is a recognition of the leadership of Rep. Slotkin’s commitment to create good-paying union jobs, fight economic and racial injustice, and reduce the emissions driving climate change. Rep. Slotkin voted for several key priorities demonstrating her legislative record supporting workers and a clean environment.

According to the White House, in Michigan, this federal legislation has:

  • Helped create 421,300 jobs;
  • Spurred 494,400 applications for new businesses;
  • Incentivized $28.5 billion in private sector manufacturing and clean energy investments; and
  • Invested $200 million to replace lead pipes

“We are excited to work alongside Elissa Slotkin in this election and beyond,” said Walsh. “We need her leadership in the Senate, and we ask Michiganders to support her for another term.”
