EPA Clean School Bus Program Awards Will Support Good Jobs, Protect Health at Schools
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced more than $1 billion in grant awards to replace 2,700 existing school buses in school districts around the country with zero-emission and clean buses. The funding will help replace school buses in 280 school districts serving over 7 million students across 37 states.
Following the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released a statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“Clean school buses are an investment in improving the quality of the air that school children and communities breathe every day, and this investment will create and sustain jobs around the country building these buses. We congratulate the Biden administration and the EPA for this much-needed investment in our school districts and urge them to continue to ensure that the program benefits the workers building, driving, and servicing these school buses by supporting domestic manufacturing and a strong union workforce.”
