Buy Clean Continues to Gain Momentum with Administration Action
The White House yesterday hosted a convening with National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi, Council on Environmental Quality Chair Brenda Mallory, and leaders from 20 states to discuss advancing Buy Clean initiatives. Alongside the convening, the White House released a fact sheet on Buy Clean efforts. The fact sheet outlines new federal support, private sector commitments, and state and local action.
In response to the release of the fact sheet, the BlueGreen Alliance issued the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“With these announcements, the Biden administration has strengthened its commitment to support good manufacturing jobs and reduce industrial emissions with Buy Clean policies. By convening state leaders, the administration highlighted the opportunity for states to advance Buy Clean concurrently with federal efforts. State-level action on Buy Clean will support good jobs for manufacturing workers from Minnesota to Washington State while boosting local demand for construction materials that support clean air and a livable climate.
“We applaud the Biden administration’s initiative to make Buy Clean a cross-cutting priority for government agencies. We’re eager to work with agencies from the U.S. Department of Transportation to the General Services Administration and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as they work to leverage investments in the Inflation Reduction Act to help manufacturers report and reduce their emissions while catalyzing demand for clean materials for public buildings and highways.”
