Funding for Weatherization Program will Lower Bills, Create Jobs
March 30, 2022
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today the allocation of $3.16 billion for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The WAP provides funds for low-income households to increase the energy efficiency of their homes, lowering energy bills.
In response to the announcement, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“The WAP offers a lifeline to help families reduce the cost of heating and cooling at a time when they are struggling. Today’s action will increase the efficiency of homes and lower energy bills for families across the nation and—with the right policies in place—create good, local jobs using American-made materials.”
