‘This is Historic!’ BlueGreen Alliance Applauds House Passage of Historic Build Back Better Act, Urges Quick Passage by the Senate
The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Build Back Better Act, which makes generational investments in American manufacturing, infrastructure, the care economy, and workers and communities.
The Build Back Better Act is at its core a jobs bill. Recently, the BlueGreen Alliance released new data estimating the job creation potential of several Build Back Better Act provisions. For example, the new data reveals that the manufacturing and industrial investments included in the Build Back Better Act would support 1.27 million jobs over 10 years. They would also create or sustain hundreds of thousands of long-term jobs at thousands of factories established, expanded, or retooled with federal support and more throughout the economy.
In response to the vote, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“This is historic! The BlueGreen Alliance was founded on the principle that we do not have to choose between good jobs and a clean environment; the Build Back Better Act is proof that we can and must have both. This bill will create millions of good-paying union jobs across the country while reducing the emissions driving climate change, positioning the U.S. as a leader in the clean economy, and making our communities and infrastructure safer and more resilient in the face of the climate impacts we are already seeing. It is critical that the Senate move quickly to pass this bill and send it to the president’s desk.”
