Inclusion of Labor Standards in Clean Energy for America Act Welcomed, Further Attention to Domestic Content Needed
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, today introduced the Clean Energy for America Act. In response, the BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Jason Walsh:
“Our nation is in the midst of a massive energy transition that has the potential to reap significant benefits for workers and communities. We can see examples across the country of good, union jobs building a clean energy and climate-resilient economy today. However, not enough of the new jobs that have been created or promised in the clean energy economy are high-quality, family-sustaining jobs.
“Labor standards like those included in Chairman Wyden’s Clean Energy for America Act will help grow the clean economy while taking steps to ensure that workers on clean energy projects are paid fair wages and receive the highest quality skills training.
“We look forward to working with Chairman Wyden to advance and strengthen this bill moving forward. There is more work to be done to ensure these investments deliver good jobs and benefits for domestic manufacturing and help build robust supply chains and good jobs across the economy.”
