BlueGreen Alliance Applauds House Passage of America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018
The U.S. House today passed America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018. The bill includes provisions intended to drive investments in water infrastructure, support the creation of quality family-sustaining jobs here in the United States, and ensure that all Americans have access to clean drinking water.
The BlueGreen Alliance released the following statement from Executive Director Kim Glas:
“For too many Americans, consistent access to clean, safe water is an uncertainty. We applaud the passage of America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, which will help address this urgent issue.
“The bill passed today includes several measures aimed at increasing water infrastructure investments, including a near doubling of funds for the Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund, as well as a five-year extension of the Fund’s Buy America provision. This commonsense extension is a significant step towards ensuring that improvements to America’s water infrastructure support American workers and are maximized in the U.S. economy. We urge congressional leaders to work towards making this important provision permanent.
“Across the nation, communities are experiencing first hand the dangers of neglecting water infrastructure. It’s time to get serious about addressing this dangerous problem. Today’s passage is a critical step in the right direction.”
